Our obsession with the marital status of British politicians

Yesterday’s bit of fun with Goggle autocomplete made it in to the Times diary (sub required) and a BBC journalist has apparently started to do a package on the subject.  Who’d have thought it?

Still puzzles us quite why, of all the things that could top the list, it is marital status that does so quite so frequently.

And yes, several people have pointed out that ‘Owen Paterson’ only has one t (whereas we had Patterson).  Fairly sure that we searched correctly, but just wrote it up wrong. But we’ve corrected it — and, as of today, that moves him up from the ‘Nowt’ to the ‘Who Is?’ category. Which is progress of a sort.
